Travel tips for the holiday season

January is one of Newcastle Airport’s busiest months and we know that the holiday season can be stressful, especially for families. Below you will find some tips that we hope will assist you when travelling through Newcastle Airport during the peak January travel period.

Transport

The Newcastle Airport Information Services desk is located in the arrivals area of the terminal. Book your airport transfers through the desk on your arrival, or contact the team on (02) 4928 9822 to arrange transport to-and-from the terminal in advance. Information Services has both standard and premium services available. When you book your travel through the desk, you’ll enjoy a seamless, stress-free journey to-or-from Newcastle Airport.

Check-in

Arrive at the Airport with plenty of time to park your car and make your way to the terminal. The airlines have 30 minute check-in cut-off period, therefore it is advisable to arrive at the Airport at least one hour before your departure time.

Security

Don’t forget to check your hand luggage for any restricted items. If you are unsure, pack these items in your hand luggage or leave them at home. For more information, click here.

Help is always at hand

Newcastle Airport’s Ambassadors are always on hand to provide assistance or answer your questions. Look out for the team, identifiable by their teal jackets and friendly smiles, throughout the terminal.

Live flight information now available via the web

Newcastle Airport passengers can now view up-to-date flight information from the comfort of their office or home with the introduction of a live Flight Information Display System (FIDS) on the Airport’s website.

With just one click from the Airport’s homepage, you can view an up-to-date status of your flight. Flights arriving and departing from Newcastle Airport over a 24-hour period are listed, and you are able to filter the view to match your needs.

The implementation of the new live FIDS on the website enables you to easily plan your journey to-or-from the Airport, and it is also useful if you are picking-up or dropping-off passengers.

The live FIDS information can be viewed by logging on to www.newcastleairport.com.au

Even more flights to Melbourne and the Gold Coast

Jetstar will reintroduce a third daily return flight from Melbourne from 7 March 2010 and Gold Coast services will be boosted from one flight per day to a daily-double from 8 July 2010.

The new flights provide passengers with greater choice and are a positive reinforcement for future growth at Newcastle Airport in 2010.
